"Fake it till you make it!"

No matter how many times I do it, I always get the butterflies when presenting in front of a crowd. Even if I am completely prepared, I still manage to get nervous. I am convinced this curse will never go away. But it does help to have a little support. That is why I am proud to be part of such a stellar team-Straitlaced. I think we managed to pull off a great first presentation. However, my motto for this course still stands, which is to "fake it, till I make it."
I may not have all the skills I need to put on the perfect presentation, but I most certainly will by the end of the semester...at least that is the goal.

During presentations, we took note of strengths and weaknesses of each team. It was helpful to hear where we stood out as well as fell short. For example, though our team holds great energy we need to try & avoid looking back and forth at the screen. Our professor encouraged all teams to keep our focus outwards rather than backwards. Now what? We will use our high energy to better engage our audience. I think it would also be beneficial to run through our presentations beforehand in order to get a better sense of how we want things to flow. I appreciated seeing how each team did their own thing. Professor Middleton was certainly right when saying, "we each have something unique to share."

  1. I also can't seem to avoid the onset of butterflies when all eyes are on me. I often get tongue tied or just lose my train of thought. My nerves seem to subside a little with lots of practice. But I really don't like to practice! Your team did very well, by the way.
